Volume 1: February 2019
We hope that everyone is off to a healthy and relaxed start in 2019. A Balanced Life LLC (ABL LLC) is making some important practice improvements that you will want to know about. We are in the process of switching to a more efficient and comprehensive Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
What this means for our clients engaged in services in 2018 is that your current record will be securely archived for HIPAA compliant storage and a new record will be created for you in the new EHR system. This will not disrupt your therapy service.
Several features, such as the appointment reminders, on-line registration, and on-line scheduling will become available as ABL LLC continues integration into the new system. Our goal is to have all the integrations completed by the end of the first quarter, March 30, 2019.

New Billing Practices
As mentioned above, A Balanced Life LLC is in the process of switching to a more efficient and comprehensive Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and has contracted with a billing company under the new EHR. The billing company will submit insurance claims for you and manage your account. Whether you self-pay; pay co-insurance; or, or pay toward your deductible, statements can be provided to you, per request, by ABL LLC. Additionally, your insurance company should send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
Insurance is a complicated business these days, and A Balanced Life LLC is committed to transparency and clarity in our billing practices. ABL LLC will work with you to understand your insurance benefits as we adjust to the new system being implemented and integrated in 2019.
As part of our commitment to you, insurance claims will be filed on your behalf, whether ABL LLC is in or out of your insurance network. For clients that do not want to use insurance, claims will not be filed.
More about Insurance
An additional improvement to look forward to in 2019 is that ABL LLC is working with the billing company to become in-network providers with insurance companies that are currently accepting provider applications.
ABL LLC is currently in-network with Cigna insurance. If ABL LLC is an out-of-network provider for your insurance, claims will still be filed for you, as you may have an out-of-network benefit.
Most clients have some kind of deductible, which means the insurance benefit will not begin until the deductible has been met. In this case, you will pay for your appointments and a claim will be filed so that the amount you pay can be applied to your deductible. Check with your insurance company, though, as some companies and/or plans may not apply out-of-network payments toward the deductible.
